Abstract
The main objective of this study is to examine the main causes and effects of work-related stress and coping style among Nigerian Air Force officers. The study method included qualitative and quantitative surveys. The results showed that the main cause of work stress among them is the work itself. The large workload, repetitive work and poor work environment were some of the stressors identified in the category of work itself. Respondents found that reckless and unfair supervisors, lack of recognition and conflict within and between groups were stressors. Respondents also see social support as a buffer against the dysfunctional consequences of work-related stress and as an established network of friends, family, supervisors, colleagues and colleagues who seek emotional support when they face work-related stress in the workplace. are. In addition, respondents use more than one coping style to counter work stress based on scenarios, situations and the level of workload. This study is limited to examining work stress and coping styles among soldiers. Suggestions for future research are also recommended.
