Abstract
This works examines influence of staff motivation on productivity at the local government level, the concept of staff motivation has overtime been misconstrued, organizations and company pays no clear attention to motivation of staff in relation to their staff productivity level in the organization or company. Three research objectives, research question and hypothesis were formulated to guide this research work, descriptive research design was adopted, questionnaire distributed to 100 Ovia-south west local government staff. Motivation boosts worker’s morale and enhance productivity and performance in any organization, so it was recommended that Local Government needs to improve the staff incentives, and allowances, such as leave grants, transport, Housing, meal subsidy etc, provided to the staff of these Local Government Councils.
