RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTAL ROLE AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND ITS’ DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the relationship between parental role and early childhood education and its’ development. Specifically, the study examined  the role of parents in early childhood care education, find out whether there is any significant difference in the academic performance of children who are reared by parents and those reared by non-parents, find out whether there is any significant gender difference in the academic performance of children reared by intact parent and find out the difference between the academic performance of children brought up by intact parents and those brought up by single parents.  The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of30 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the social cognitive theory, theory of cognitive development by Jean Piaget. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that parental role in early childhood education. Furthermore, the academic performance of children whose parents were involved in their academics, improved. The study recommend parents need to play an active role in their children’s early education.
