ROLES OF PARENT IN ERADICATION OF CULTISM IN THE SOCIETY

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine roles of parents in eradication of cultism in the society. Specifically, the study examined various roles parents and the federal government play in eradication of cultism in Nigeria. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 50 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the the Behavioural Theory and social learning theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that There is a significant relationship between the background of a child and the refusal of becoming a cult member, parents advice have a significant impact on the child refusal of becoming a cult member, cult activities in tertiary institution has significant effect on the academic performance and behavioral pattern of the student. This is as the Pearson correlation test showed a positive significant relationship (.822**). The study recommend Government should legislate laws that will have stiff penalty on cultism in Nigeria and that parents should recognize their roles in the behavioral lives of their study and endeavor to play them well.
