ABSTRACT

Nigeria as a country is driving past the era of having a large number of her citizens employed in the public sector. Overtime, the private sector has always been ahead of the government in employment basis. This is because government is creating few jobs while the masses are growing at a geometric progression. In order to keep the economic afloat, there is a strong encouragement of entrepreneurship among the members of the public. The initiation, establishment and operation of small-scale business has been in existence for decades. Entrepreneurship has proven beneficial for individuals and the economy. However, there are challenges facing entrepreneurs in the course of business operation. Mostly, these challenges are not access to finance or lack of finance but they are inherent challenges such management/leadership, credit sales and infrastructure. This study was undertaken to identify the challenges of entrepreneurs in Okpuno in their daily operation of small-scale business. The study formulated and tested hypotheses using the Z-test. The results showed that small-scale businesses in Okpuno of Awka south faces challenges and these challenges affects its growth and development.
