ABSTRACT
The secretary plays a very important role in the running of an organization. No matter how skillful and competent secretaries are the effectiveness of their functions largely depend on the availability of office technology. The study was carried out to examine Word-Processing and its impact on the secretary’s performance in some selected organizations. The objective of this study was focused on the impact and relevance of word processing in enhancing secretariats operations, performance and productivity. The population of the study was sampled and one hundred (100) respondents was selected in first banks resident in Lagos State. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire, it was presented in tabular form. The findings revealed that word processing aids and enhances secretariats performance and productivity. more also, it was revealed that adequate and regular trainings secretaries should be established in both public and private organizations. It was however recommended that both public and private organizations should procure adequate modern office technology/equipment that allows the use of word processing to enhance the productivity of their secretaries and Secretaries who lack adequate knowledge and skill in the usage of modern office technology/equipment such a kind of word processors should be retrained to fit into the current trend of technological advancement for effective performance. finally, secretaries should undergo regular training on the usage of new technological gadgets in order to enhance their skill and keep them abreast with the technological dynamism in the 21st century.
