Newspapers, as a mass medium remains one of the major carriers of information and current happenings around the world. However, Newspapers are largely or seemingly understood to be synonymous with news stories. This study on “the newspaper coverage of the PDP crisis at the national level” seeks to examine the newspaper coverage of PDP leadership crisis at the national level in Nigeria from the time of the crisis till June 12, 2017 when the Supreme Court withdrew Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and reinstated Makarfi as PDP chairman to bring an end to the crisis that rocked the Party. The method adopted in this study is content analysis research design. From the research carried out we saw that Newspapers in Nigeria gave a lot of coverage to this Crisis and there was little amount of Partisanship in the reportage of this crisis by the Nigerian dailies.
