ABSTRACT
The child abuse menace is as old as the birth of the first child, until very recently child maltreatment has never been seen as a social problem. It was falsely assumed that such physical punishments are supposed to correct had behavior and ensure conformity. But the consequential distorted personality of the child disproves the assumption.
The subjects for the study were two hundred (200) respondents randomly selected. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The findings showed that there is a significant relationship between socio-economic status and child abuse and that there is a significant relationship between parent educational background and child abuse.
