FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUPILS’ LATENESS TO SCHOOLS

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to assess the factors responsible for pupils’ lateness to public primary schools, with particular reference to Makurdi local government area of Benue state, Nigeria. Three research questions were structured and analyzed using simple percentages for answers to the research questions. A Sample of 5 public primary schools comprising 250 pupils, 100 parents and 50 teachers were randomly selected with regard to their geographical location across the local government area. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentages for Bio-data of respondents and for testing the three hypotheses. The findings show that some factors have significant impact on pupils’ lateness to public primary schools, particularly Makurdi local government area of Benue state, Nigeria.
