Background of the study
In recent years, Instagram influencers have become pivotal in shaping cultural trends and language use, particularly in linguistically vibrant contexts such as Nigeria. The language employed by influencers often transcends traditional norms, introducing innovative morphosyntactic structures that mirror the dynamic interplay of modernity and local traditions (Chukwu, 2023). Influencer posts, captions, and interactions generate new grammatical forms and lexical adaptations, thereby contributing to morphosyntactic innovation (Balogun, 2023). This study explores how the curated, visually driven environment of Instagram facilitates language experimentation among Nigerian youth. The phenomena observed include syntactic shifts and the creative merging of indigenous language features with global linguistic trends. This evolution is influenced by audience engagement, social identity, and the performative nature of influencer culture (Okafor, 2024). The research situates itself within the broader framework of digital sociolinguistics, emphasizing the role of social media in reshaping traditional grammatical conventions. As Nigerian influencers negotiate cultural authenticity with international appeal, they inadvertently challenge and redefine established linguistic rules, prompting a reexamination of morphosyntactic norms in digital communication (Ibrahim, 2024). By focusing on influencer language, this study aims to uncover the mechanisms behind linguistic innovation and its social implications, providing valuable insights into contemporary language change in digital contexts (Eze, 2023).

Statement of the problem
The rapid spread of influencer language on Instagram has generated significant morphosyntactic innovations in Nigerian digital discourse. However, there is limited empirical research that systematically examines the extent and nature of these linguistic changes (Chukwu, 2023). The current literature often overlooks how influencers, as cultural gatekeepers, initiate and disseminate novel grammatical structures that challenge traditional linguistic boundaries (Nwankwo, 2023). This gap results in an incomplete understanding of the interplay between media influence and language evolution. Without detailed investigation, educators and linguists may struggle to integrate these emerging language forms into existing frameworks. Thus, the study addresses the need for a comprehensive analysis that delineates the specific morphosyntactic innovations fostered by Instagram influencers, their reception among Nigerian youth, and the broader implications for language development and cultural identity (Balogun, 2024).

Significance of the study
The study is significant as it highlights the transformative role of Instagram influencers in redefining Nigerian morphosyntactic practices. Scope and limitations of the study
This study is confined to the analysis of language used by Instagram influencers in Nigeria. It does not extend to other social media platforms or offline language practices, ensuring a focused examination of morphosyntactic innovation in this digital milieu.
