Background of the study:
Motor parks in Oshodi-Isolo serve as crucial hubs for local commerce and transportation. They provide an organized space where commuters, transport operators, and small-scale traders converge, thereby facilitating the flow of goods and services (Ajayi, 2023; Sule, 2024). These motor parks contribute to the local economy by generating employment, supporting ancillary businesses, and acting as meeting points for information exchange and social networking. Recent studies have noted that motor parks significantly impact local economic dynamics, often acting as catalysts for urban development and community interactions (Ibrahim, 2024). However, challenges such as congestion, safety issues, and poor infrastructural maintenance persist. The integration of modern management techniques and regulatory oversight could enhance the overall effectiveness of motor parks as economic engines. This study investigates the multifaceted role of motor parks in Oshodi-Isolo, examining their contributions to economic activities, employment, and local trade, while also exploring the challenges that limit their potential.
Statement of the problem:
Despite their recognized role in stimulating local economic activities, motor parks in Oshodi-Isolo face numerous operational challenges. Congestion, inadequate infrastructure, and safety concerns hamper their efficiency and limit their economic benefits. The absence of coordinated management and regulatory oversight further exacerbates these issues, leading to suboptimal utilization of the motor park’s potential. This study seeks to identify the key challenges and propose strategies to improve the operational efficiency and economic contributions of motor parks.
Objectives of the study:
1. To evaluate the economic contributions of motor parks in Oshodi-Isolo.
2. To identify the operational challenges impacting motor park efficiency.
3. To recommend management and regulatory strategies for optimizing economic benefits.

Significance of the study:
This study is significant as it highlights the essential role of motor parks in local economic development. The findings will assist policymakers and park administrators in devising strategies to overcome challenges and boost the economic benefits derived from these hubs.
Scope and limitations of the study:
The study is limited to evaluating the role of motor parks in local economic activities in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Lagos State and does not cover other forms of transportation infrastructure.
