Background of the study

In the Oredo Local Government Area, financial constraints and economic instability have been observed to affect voter turnout and decision-making. Economic challenges can lead to voter dissatisfaction with incumbent administrations, prompting a search for alternative candidates who promise economic relief (Okeke, 2023). Moreover, economic hardship tends to exacerbate political polarization, as financial stress influences perceptions of governmental performance and accountability (Ibrahim, 2024). This study examines the multifaceted impact of economic hardship on voter behavior by exploring factors such as unemployment, inflation, and income disparity. Statement of the problem
