Background of the study:
Political interference in the administration of secondary schools has increasingly become a contentious issue in Ebonyi State. In Abakaliki, political influences have been reported to affect decision-making processes, resource allocation, and school management practices. Such interference often results in favoritism, mismanagement, and a lack of accountability, which can undermine the quality of education delivered to students (Nwafor, 2023). Politically motivated appointments and policies may prioritize personal or party interests over educational needs, leading to inefficiencies and disparities among schools. This phenomenon disrupts the autonomy of educational institutions and compromises the integrity of administrative processes. With the growing politicization of school affairs, there is a pressing need to critically examine the extent of political interference and its impact on educational outcomes. This study seeks to explore the mechanisms through which political influence affects school administration, evaluating both the immediate and long-term consequences for academic performance and institutional development (Okoro, 2025).
Statement of the problem:
Political interference in Abakaliki’s secondary schools has led to administrative inefficiencies and unequal resource distribution. Such interference compromises the effectiveness of school management and negatively impacts student performance. This study aims to assess the extent of political influence and identify strategies to safeguard educational administration from undue external pressures (Okoro, 2025).

The research is limited to exploring the influence of political interference in the administration of secondary schools in Abakaliki Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, and does not consider other external factors affecting education.
