Background of the study
Afforestation programs play a vital role in combating deforestation and mitigating climate change, especially in regions experiencing rapid land degradation. In Ijebu Ode, community participation has emerged as a pivotal factor in the success of afforestation initiatives. Recent research (Balogun, 2023; Adekunle, 2024) highlights the importance of local engagement in environmental restoration projects. Communities contribute traditional knowledge, labor, and local oversight, making afforestation efforts more sustainable. The study investigates the historical background of afforestation, government incentives, and socio-cultural factors that influence community involvement. Statement of the problem
