Background of the Study:
Effective resource allocation is fundamental to the success of vocational education programs, particularly at the primary school level, where early exposure to practical skills can shape future academic and career trajectories. In Sokoto North Local Government Area, vocational education resources have been earmarked as a strategic priority to enhance the quality of primary education. This initiative aims to equip young learners with basic technical skills that are vital in today’s rapidly evolving job market (Bukar, 2023). The allocation of resources—including modern equipment, teaching materials, and trained instructors—is critical for delivering a comprehensive vocational curriculum. Despite government efforts to prioritize vocational education in primary schools, challenges persist in ensuring that resources are adequately and equitably distributed. Many schools struggle with insufficient funding, outdated teaching aids, and limited infrastructural support, which hinder the effective implementation of vocational programs (Olawale, 2024). Bureaucratic hurdles and delays in fund disbursement further exacerbate the gap between policy intentions and classroom realities. Additionally, the rapid pace of technological advancement necessitates continual investment in updated resources to keep the curriculum relevant and engaging for students. Feedback from stakeholders suggests that while the initiative to integrate vocational training in primary education is commendable, the current level of resource allocation is insufficient to fully realize its potential. This disparity not only affects the quality of education but also the overall preparedness of students to engage in technical careers later in life. Consequently, a critical appraisal of the current resource allocation framework is essential to identify areas for improvement and ensure that primary schools are adequately equipped to deliver quality vocational education. This study examines the types and adequacy of resources allocated, the challenges faced in resource management, and the effectiveness of current strategies in enhancing vocational education outcomes in Sokoto North (Chinedu, 2024).

Statement of the Problem :
Despite the recognized importance of vocational education in primary schools in Sokoto North, significant challenges remain regarding the allocation and utilization of resources. The intended benefits of early technical skill acquisition are frequently undermined by inadequate resource provision, which negatively affects the overall quality of vocational education delivered. Many schools are plagued by outdated equipment, insufficient teaching materials, and a shortage of trained instructors capable of effectively imparting vocational skills (Amina, 2023). These resource constraints compromise not only the delivery of quality education but also the students’ ability to gain exposure to modern technical competencies. Furthermore, delays in fund disbursement and bureaucratic inefficiencies lead to an uneven distribution of resources, creating disparities among schools. Such disparities result in some institutions being well-equipped while others struggle to maintain even basic facilities. The resulting gap between policy objectives and classroom realities undermines the long-term effectiveness of vocational education initiatives. This study aims to critically assess the extent of resource allocation issues, explore the underlying causes of these challenges, and propose viable solutions to enhance the quality of vocational education in primary schools in Sokoto North.

Objectives of the Study:

  1. To evaluate the adequacy of resources allocated for vocational education in primary schools.
  2. To identify challenges in resource management and distribution in Sokoto North.
  3. To recommend strategies for improving resource allocation and utilization.

Research Questions:

  1. What is the current state of resource allocation for vocational education in primary schools in Sokoto North?
  2. What challenges impede effective resource management in these schools?
  3. How can resource allocation be optimized to enhance vocational education outcomes?

Research Hypotheses:

  1. Adequate resource allocation significantly improves the quality of vocational education.
  2. Inefficient resource management negatively affects educational outcomes in primary schools.
  3. Improved resource distribution strategies lead to enhanced vocational training effectiveness.

Significance of the Study :
This study is significant as it examines the allocation and management of resources for vocational education in primary schools in Sokoto North. By identifying gaps in resource provision and proposing actionable recommendations, the research offers critical insights for policymakers and educational leaders. The findings will contribute to improved resource management practices, thereby enhancing the quality of vocational education and promoting better learning outcomes for students (Ibrahim, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study:
The study is limited to the appraisal of resource allocation for vocational education in primary schools within Sokoto North Local Government Area, focusing solely on the adequacy, management, and distribution of these resources.

Definitions of Terms:

  1. Resources: Financial, material, and human assets allocated for educational programs.
  2. Vocational Education: Instructional programs that provide practical and technical skills.
  3. Resource Allocation: The process of distributing resources among educational institutions.
