ABSTRACT

This research study was designed to examine the effect of lack of qualified teachers on the performances of students in English Language in Egor Local Government Area. The data used in this study were obtained through the use of questionnaires and SS II results for the 2005 and 2006 session served as a basis for necessary and relevant information. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. The first hypotheses which state that teacher’s qualification do not contribute to the performances of students ways rejected. Similarly the second hypothesis which states that the teacher’s qualification and experience on the job has effect on the student’s performance was accepted. At the end of the research study, the result obtained revealed that student’s performance are affected by teachers qualification and experience on the job. Government should improve the quality of the teachers by way of seminars, workshop and better remuneration.
