ABSTRACT

This research work was carried out on the office technological skills preferred by employers in some selected business organization in Abia state. To achieve the aim of this study, questionnaire and review of related literature were employed as research tools. Data collected were analyzed using a 5-point linker scale, mean score and standard deviation. A mean of 3.0 and above was accepted as significant while factors less than 3.00 were rejected. The research adopted the survey descriptive design and with the aid of convenience sampling method, the researcher  conveniently selected eighty (80) participant who are  Chief Executive, Managing Directors and Personnel Managers in organization. Self- structure questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which  seventy-seven (77) responses were retrieved and validated for the study. The study made use of of descriptive analysis and inferential statistics where data from field survey was analyzed using simple percentage, mean and standard deviation presented in frequencies and tables.  Findings of the study  showed the type of office technology skills preferred by employers. The benefits derived from the use of these office technological skills were also revealed. It was recommended that NBTE and NUC should upgrade their curriculum as it concerns with the list of equipment to match with the present day office. The government on their own part should also provide institution of higher learning running different business educational programmes sufficient fund to defray the cost of obtaining adequate modern training facilities, which meet with the type available in modern office.
