ABSTRACT
The research examined the influence of Smartphone usage on the Academic Performance of Babcock University Students, Ogun State Nigeria. Smartphone especially blackberry, window and Android phones have made surfing internet among students more easier and cheaper compared to the days when only assess to the internet was by going to a cyber café and later to the using of personal computer with modem etc, Survey research method was adopted coupled with 120 copies of questionnaires that were administered to 120 respondents of which 110 were retrieved. It was established that smartphone aids research and communication among respondents while so many people also abuse it. It is recommended that Students should be orientate on the need and best way to use phone in an academic environment and what constitute abuse or negative use of phone within academic border by formulating laws to will prohibit excesses.
