Background of the Study
The integration of digital technologies in fashion design education is rapidly transforming the creative process. At Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja, Kogi State, 3D modeling is being investigated as an innovative tool to enhance the teaching and learning of fashion design. 3D modeling allows students to create, manipulate, and visualize garments in a virtual environment, thereby reducing material waste and lowering production costs while fostering creativity. This technology provides a platform for designers to experiment with different fabrics, textures, and styles without the limitations of physical prototypes (Ibrahim, 2023). By enabling rapid iteration and real-time feedback, 3D modeling can significantly shorten the design cycle and improve the overall quality of fashion education. Recent advancements in computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D rendering have made it possible for students to achieve high levels of detail and realism in their designs, preparing them for the demands of a competitive fashion industry (Chinwe, 2024). Furthermore, 3D modeling supports collaborative projects by allowing multiple users to contribute to a single design, fostering an environment of teamwork and innovation. The implementation of 3D modeling in fashion design curricula also aligns with global trends, as the industry increasingly adopts digital technologies for product visualization and virtual fashion shows. This study will assess the impact of 3D modeling on students’ technical skills, creative output, and overall engagement in fashion design courses. It will also identify challenges such as software accessibility, technical skill gaps, and resistance to digital transformation in traditional design pedagogy. Ultimately, the research aims to provide a framework for effectively integrating 3D modeling into fashion education at Kogi State Polytechnic, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for modern design challenges.

Statement of the Problem
Traditional fashion design education often relies on hand-drawing and physical prototyping, methods that can be time-consuming, resource-intensive, and limiting in terms of creative exploration. At Kogi State Polytechnic, students face challenges in rapidly iterating design concepts due to constraints in material availability and technical expertise in digital tools (Ibrahim, 2023). Although 3D modeling presents a viable alternative by enabling designers to visualize and modify their creations in a digital space, its adoption is hindered by factors such as limited access to advanced software, inadequate training, and a resistance to change from conventional methods. These challenges result in a gap between industry demands and the skills imparted by traditional curricula. The absence of a robust 3D modeling component in fashion education restricts students’ ability to explore innovative design techniques and reduces their competitiveness in the job market. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of integrating 3D modeling into the fashion design curriculum by evaluating its impact on student performance, creativity, and engagement. It will also examine the technical and pedagogical barriers to implementation and propose strategies for overcoming these obstacles. The objective is to develop an optimized educational framework that leverages digital tools to enhance fashion design learning, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for modern industry practices (Chinwe, 2024).

Objectives of the Study
• To assess the impact of 3D modeling on fashion design skills and creativity.
• To evaluate student engagement and learning outcomes following 3D modeling integration.
• To propose strategies for overcoming technical and pedagogical barriers.

Research Questions
• How does 3D modeling improve fashion design education?
• What measurable benefits are observed in student creativity and technical skills?
• What challenges impede effective integration of 3D modeling, and how can they be addressed?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it explores the transformative potential of 3D modeling in fashion design education, providing insights that can enhance creative and technical proficiency among students (Ibrahim, 2023). The findings will offer practical recommendations for educators at Kogi State Polytechnic to integrate digital tools into curricula, preparing graduates for the evolving demands of the fashion industry (Chinwe, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to the evaluation of 3D modeling in fashion design education at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Kogi State. It focuses solely on digital modeling tools and does not extend to other aspects of design education.

Definitions of Terms
