Background of the Study
Architectural design is a multifaceted discipline that requires clear visualization and precise interpretation of three-dimensional models. At Sokoto State University, the design and implementation of a web-based 3D model viewer is being explored to enhance the presentation and evaluation of architectural designs. This digital tool aims to provide architects, students, and faculty with an interactive platform that allows for real-time exploration of 3D models, thereby improving communication and collaborative design processes (Ahmed, 2023). The use of a web-based viewer eliminates the need for expensive proprietary software, offering a cost-effective solution accessible from various devices and locations. The integration of interactive features such as rotation, zooming, and annotation further enriches the user experience, making it easier to analyze intricate design details and spatial relationships. Recent technological advancements have demonstrated that interactive 3D visualization can significantly enhance understanding and foster creative design solutions (Bello, 2024). The proposed system utilizes modern web technologies such as WebGL and HTML5 to deliver high-quality, responsive 3D visualizations directly in a browser, ensuring seamless accessibility and ease of use. The background of this study emphasizes the growing demand for digital tools that facilitate remote collaboration and dynamic presentation of architectural projects, particularly in academic environments where diverse user groups require flexible access to design information. By incorporating a web-based 3D model viewer, Sokoto State University aims to bridge the gap between theoretical architectural education and practical design applications, thereby fostering innovation and enhancing the overall quality of architectural training (Ahmed, 2023).

Statement of the Problem
Traditional methods of presenting architectural designs often involve static images, physical models, or proprietary software that is both expensive and inaccessible to a wider audience. At Sokoto State University, these limitations hinder effective communication between students, educators, and industry professionals, resulting in suboptimal design feedback and collaboration (Bello, 2024). Moreover, the lack of a unified, web-based platform for viewing 3D architectural models creates challenges in maintaining consistency and quality in design presentations. This fragmentation not only reduces the effectiveness of design reviews but also limits opportunities for remote collaboration, which is increasingly important in today’s digital academic landscape. Additionally, technical challenges such as compatibility issues across different devices and browsers further complicate the sharing and evaluation of architectural designs. The current system is constrained by high costs, limited accessibility, and a steep learning curve, which collectively impede the ability of students to fully engage with modern design tools. This study aims to address these issues by developing a web-based 3D model viewer that is both user-friendly and scalable. It will investigate the technical feasibility of the system, evaluate user satisfaction, and measure its impact on the quality of architectural design presentations. The research will also explore potential integration challenges and propose solutions to ensure that the viewer meets the needs of a diverse academic community (Ahmed, 2023).

Objectives of the Study
• To design and implement a web-based 3D model viewer for architectural designs.
• To evaluate the viewer’s effectiveness in enhancing design communication and collaboration.
• To identify and address technical challenges associated with cross-platform accessibility.

Research Questions
• How does the web-based 3D model viewer improve the presentation of architectural designs?
• What are the key technical challenges in implementing a web-based visualization tool?
• How can the system be optimized to support effective remote collaboration?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it provides a practical solution for enhancing architectural design presentations through a web-based 3D model viewer, thereby facilitating better communication and collaboration (Ahmed, 2023). The insights gained will benefit academic institutions and industry professionals by offering an accessible, cost-effective tool that bridges theoretical training and practical design application (Bello, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to the design, implementation, and evaluation of a web-based 3D model viewer for architectural designs at Sokoto State University, Sokoto, Sokoto State. It focuses exclusively on digital visualization and does not extend to other aspects of architectural design.
