Background of the Study
Engineering drawings are critical in conveying complex technical information in a precise and understandable manner. At Kaduna State University, the adoption of augmented reality (AR) is being explored to enhance the clarity and effectiveness of these drawings. AR technology superimposes digital information onto the physical world, enabling students and professionals to interact with three-dimensional representations of engineering designs (Bello, 2023). By integrating AR into the traditional process of creating and interpreting engineering drawings, the technology offers a more immersive and intuitive learning experience. This innovation can bridge the gap between abstract technical drawings and tangible real-world applications, fostering a deeper understanding of spatial relationships and design intricacies. Recent studies have shown that AR can significantly improve comprehension and retention of complex information, thereby making it an invaluable tool in engineering education (Umar, 2024). The implementation of AR in engineering drawings not only augments visual communication but also facilitates collaborative learning, allowing multiple users to view and interact with digital overlays in real time. This has the potential to revolutionize design reviews, enhance error detection, and streamline the iterative process of engineering design. Furthermore, the integration of AR can lead to the development of dynamic educational tools that support both theoretical learning and practical application, offering a comprehensive approach to engineering education. The background of this study highlights the transformative impact of AR in improving the accuracy and effectiveness of engineering drawings and underscores the need for further research to evaluate its practical applications in academic settings (Chukwu, 2023).

Statement of the Problem
Traditional engineering drawing methods often rely on static, two-dimensional representations that can be challenging to interpret, particularly when dealing with complex structures. Students and professionals at Kaduna State University face difficulties in visualizing spatial relationships and understanding the full scope of design details using conventional drawings. This limitation can lead to misinterpretation and errors during the design and review processes (Bello, 2023). Moreover, the current teaching methods do not fully utilize modern technological tools that can enhance the learning experience. Despite the proven benefits of AR in other educational contexts, its application in engineering drawing remains underexplored. There is a lack of empirical evidence on the extent to which AR can improve the comprehension and practical application of engineering designs among students. Additionally, integrating AR into the existing curriculum poses technical challenges, such as the need for specialized software and hardware, as well as training for both students and instructors (Umar, 2024). These challenges may impede the widespread adoption of AR technologies in engineering education. This study aims to address these issues by analyzing the use of AR in enhancing engineering drawings at Kaduna State University. It will investigate how AR can improve the visualization of design elements, reduce errors, and support a more interactive and engaging learning process. Furthermore, the study will assess the technical and pedagogical barriers to AR adoption and propose recommendations for overcoming these challenges, thereby contributing to the modernization of engineering education (Chukwu, 2023).

Objectives of the Study
• To evaluate the effectiveness of augmented reality in enhancing the interpretation of engineering drawings.
• To identify the technical and pedagogical challenges associated with AR integration.
• To propose strategies for optimizing AR applications in engineering education.

Research Questions
• How does AR improve the visualization of complex engineering drawings?
• What are the main challenges in integrating AR into the engineering curriculum?
• What strategies can enhance the effective use of AR in engineering education?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it investigates the innovative use of augmented reality to enhance engineering drawings, offering a potential paradigm shift in technical education (Umar, 2024). The insights gained will inform curriculum development and technology integration strategies at Kaduna State University and similar institutions. By improving the clarity and effectiveness of engineering drawings, the study aims to boost student comprehension and practical skills, thereby contributing to the advancement of engineering education (Bello, 2023).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to the analysis of augmented reality applications in enhancing engineering drawings at Kaduna State University, Kaduna, Kaduna State. It focuses exclusively on the educational and technical aspects of AR integration in engineering design.

Definitions of Terms
