Background of the study
Human anatomy is a foundational subject in health and medical education that requires detailed visualization of complex structures. At Federal University, Dutse in Jigawa State, traditional teaching methods using textbooks and 2D diagrams may not adequately convey the three-dimensional relationships of anatomical structures. A 3D modeling system can transform anatomy education by providing interactive, realistic models that allow students to explore and manipulate representations of organs, tissues, and body systems in a virtual environment (Adeola, 2023; Ibrahim, 2024). Through advanced computer graphics and simulation software, students can virtually dissect and reconstruct anatomical parts, thereby deepening their understanding of spatial relationships and physiological functions. This technology not only enhances student engagement but also supports self-directed learning and repeated practice, leading to improved retention and application of knowledge. Moreover, 3D models can be updated with the latest anatomical research, ensuring that educational content remains current and clinically relevant. However, the implementation of 3D modeling systems faces challenges including high acquisition costs, the need for technical training, and potential resistance to technology-driven methods from traditional educators. This study aims to design and implement a 3D modeling system for teaching human anatomy, evaluate its impact on learning outcomes, and propose strategies for its effective integration into the anatomy curriculum (Chinaza, 2023).

Statement of the problem
Traditional methods of teaching human anatomy at Federal University, Dutse, often rely on static 2D images and physical models, which do not effectively illustrate the three-dimensional complexity of the human body. This limitation results in gaps in students’ understanding, making it difficult for them to visualize spatial relationships and internal structures accurately. Although 3D modeling offers a promising alternative, its adoption is constrained by high costs, limited access to state-of-the-art hardware, and insufficient technical expertise among faculty. Furthermore, compatibility issues with existing curriculum and concerns regarding the realism of virtual models can reduce the overall effectiveness of 3D-based teaching tools. These challenges contribute to suboptimal educational outcomes and leave students less prepared for clinical and professional practice. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of a 3D modeling system in improving anatomy education, identify key barriers to its implementation, and propose optimization strategies to enhance its integration and educational impact (Ibrahim, 2024; Adeola, 2023).

Objectives of the study
• To design and implement a 3D modeling system for human anatomy.
• To evaluate its impact on student learning and spatial understanding.
• To identify technical and operational challenges and propose optimization strategies.

Research questions
• How does a 3D modeling system improve the understanding of human anatomy?
• What are the main technical challenges in implementing such a system?
• How can the system be optimized for integration with the existing curriculum?

Significance of the study
This study is significant as it offers an innovative approach to anatomy education, improving visualization and comprehension of complex structures, which is critical for preparing future health professionals (Adeola, 2023; Ibrahim, 2024).

Scope and limitations of the study
The study is limited to the implementation of a 3D modeling system in the human anatomy courses at Federal University, Dutse. Limitations include high costs and the need for specialized training.

Definitions of terms
3D Modeling System: A computer-based tool that creates three-dimensional representations of objects.
