Background of the Study
High-speed internet connectivity is a critical driver of economic growth and digital innovation. In Abuja, Glo Nigeria plays a pivotal role in providing reliable internet services to consumers and businesses. However, the exponential increase in data traffic and the demand for faster, more secure connectivity have exposed limitations in the existing network infrastructure. Quantum computing, with its ability to process complex computations at unprecedented speeds, offers a promising avenue for optimizing network performance and enhancing high-speed internet infrastructure (Ibrahim, 2024). By applying quantum algorithms to network routing, error correction, and data encryption, service providers can significantly improve data throughput and reduce latency (Adekunle, 2023). This study examines the potential of optimizing quantum computing applications to enhance the performance of Glo Nigeria’s internet infrastructure. It explores how quantum techniques can be integrated into current systems to manage high traffic volumes, improve network reliability, and ensure secure data transmission. The research will assess the technical challenges involved in retrofitting quantum computing solutions into existing network frameworks and evaluate the cost-effectiveness and scalability of these innovations. With digital transformation accelerating across industries, enhancing high-speed internet services is essential for maintaining competitiveness and fostering innovation. The study will analyze pilot projects and simulation models to determine the practical impact of quantum-enhanced network optimization on internet speed, reliability, and security in Abuja (Chinwe, 2025).

Statement of the Problem
Glo Nigeria’s current internet infrastructure faces challenges in meeting the rising demand for high-speed connectivity, leading to network congestion, increased latency, and occasional security breaches. Traditional optimization techniques based on classical computing methods are insufficient to handle the massive data loads and complex routing requirements of modern digital networks (Emeka, 2023). The absence of advanced computational methods, such as those offered by quantum computing, leaves the network vulnerable to inefficiencies and performance bottlenecks. Moreover, integrating quantum computing solutions into existing infrastructure poses technical and financial challenges, including compatibility issues, high deployment costs, and the need for specialized expertise. These factors hinder the full realization of improved network performance and secure, high-speed connectivity for consumers and businesses alike. This study aims to investigate how quantum computing can be optimized to enhance high-speed internet infrastructure, addressing the current performance limitations and providing a framework for integration that ensures scalability and cost-effectiveness. By doing so, the research seeks to offer a viable solution to improve internet service quality and support Nigeria’s digital economy (Nwankwo, 2025).

Objectives of the Study

  1. To evaluate the potential benefits of quantum computing for optimizing high-speed internet infrastructure.

  2. To identify the technical challenges involved in integrating quantum solutions into existing networks.

  3. To propose a scalable framework for the effective deployment of quantum-enhanced network optimization at Glo Nigeria.

Research Questions

  1. How can quantum computing improve the performance of high-speed internet infrastructure?

  2. What technical and operational challenges must be overcome to integrate quantum solutions into current networks?

  3. What framework can support the scalable implementation of quantum-enhanced network optimization?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it explores the optimization of quantum computing to enhance high-speed internet infrastructure at Glo Nigeria. By addressing technical challenges and proposing a scalable framework, the research aims to improve connectivity, reduce latency, and support the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy, benefiting both consumers and businesses.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to optimizing quantum computing for enhancing high-speed internet infrastructure at Glo Nigeria in Abuja, focusing on the stated objectives, existing network systems, and selected Local Government Areas only.
