Background of the Study
Community-based nutrition education programs play a vital role in improving dietary practices, reducing malnutrition, and promoting public health (Abdullahi & Musa, 2024). In Kano State, malnutrition, food insecurity, and diet-related diseases such as anemia and stunting remain prevalent, particularly among vulnerable populations (Olawale et al., 2023).
Nutrition education programs aim to enhance awareness about healthy eating, proper food preparation, and the importance of balanced diets. However, the effectiveness of these programs in Kano State is unclear, as dietary habits are influenced by cultural beliefs, economic constraints, and food availability (Bello et al., 2024). This study investigates the impact of community nutrition education programs on dietary behavior and health outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the implementation of various nutrition education initiatives, malnutrition and poor dietary choices persist in Kano State. Limited research exists on the effectiveness of these programs in changing dietary behaviors and improving nutritional outcomes (Aliyu & Ojo, 2024). This study evaluates the impact of community nutrition education programs and identifies gaps that need to be addressed for better implementation.
