Background of the Study
Training and retraining of healthcare workers are essential for maintaining high standards in medical practice. Continuous professional development ensures that healthcare providers stay updated with evolving medical knowledge, new treatment protocols, and advanced technologies. In developing countries like Nigeria, where healthcare challenges are prevalent, the importance of training healthcare workers cannot be overstated.
Bauchi State has faced several healthcare challenges, including inadequate service delivery, medical errors, and inefficiencies in patient management. Many of these issues stem from a lack of proper training and retraining programs for healthcare workers. Without updated knowledge and skills, healthcare professionals may struggle to provide accurate diagnoses, use modern equipment effectively, and implement best practices in patient care.
This study seeks to examine the effect of training and retraining programs on the efficiency of healthcare workers in Bauchi State.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the importance of continuous training, many healthcare facilities in Bauchi State do not have structured training and retraining programs. Healthcare workers often operate with outdated knowledge, leading to inefficiencies and poor patient outcomes. Additionally, inadequate funding and lack of access to training opportunities further limit professional growth.
If these training gaps persist, healthcare service quality will continue to decline. This study aims to assess the impact of training programs on healthcare workers' efficiency and propose strategies for improvement.
