Background of the study

Classroom management plays a crucial role in fostering an environment conducive to learning. Effective classroom management enables teachers to maintain discipline, engage students, and ensure that learning objectives are met. However, managing a classroom effectively is often challenging, particularly in large classes or in schools with limited resources. AI-based classroom management systems offer potential solutions by helping teachers monitor student behavior, assess individual learning needs, and adjust teaching strategies in real-time. These systems can provide teachers with data-driven insights into student performance, attendance, and behavior, enabling them to address issues promptly and tailor their approach to the unique needs of their students. This study aims to investigate how AI-based classroom management systems can enhance the performance of secondary school teachers in Yola North LGA, Adamawa State.

Statement of the problem

Secondary school teachers in Yola North LGA face challenges in managing large classrooms, addressing diverse learning needs, and maintaining discipline. Traditional methods of classroom management may not be sufficient to meet the demands of modern classrooms. AI-based classroom management systems could provide teachers with real-time insights and recommendations to improve student engagement and academic performance. However, the effectiveness of these systems in enhancing teacher performance in Nigerian secondary schools remains under-researched. This study will evaluate the potential benefits of AI-based classroom management tools in improving teacher performance and student outcomes in Yola North LGA.

Objectives of the study

1. To design and implement an AI-based classroom management system for secondary school teachers in Yola North LGA, Adamawa State.

2. To evaluate the impact of the AI-based classroom management system on teacher performance, including lesson delivery and student engagement.

3. To assess the effectiveness of the AI system in improving student discipline, attendance, and overall academic performance.

Research questions

1. How does the use of AI-based classroom management systems affect the performance of secondary school teachers in Yola North LGA?

2. What impact does the AI-based system have on student engagement, discipline, and academic performance?

3. How satisfied are teachers with the use of AI-based classroom management systems compared to traditional methods?

Research hypotheses

1. The use of AI-based classroom management systems will significantly improve secondary school teachers' performance in Yola North LGA.

2. AI-based classroom management systems will lead to better student engagement, discipline, and academic performance.

3. Secondary school teachers will report higher satisfaction with AI-based classroom management systems compared to traditional methods.

Significance of the study

This study will highlight the potential of AI-based classroom management systems to enhance teacher performance and student outcomes in secondary schools. The results could provide valuable insights for policymakers and educators in Yola North LGA and beyond, promoting the integration of AI technologies in education.

Scope and limitations of the study

The study will focus on the implementation and evaluation of AI-based classroom management systems in secondary schools within Yola North LGA, Adamawa State. Limitations may include challenges in system integration, teacher readiness to adopt new technology, and potential technological limitations.
