Background of the Study
The advancement of technology has significantly impacted the way educational institutions manage and disseminate knowledge. In Sokoto North Local Government Area, Sokoto State, universities face challenges in providing easy access to academic resources. Many students have limited access to physical books, and the adoption of digital libraries remains in its infancy. Open-source digital library systems can be a cost-effective solution to this problem, providing universities with a customizable platform that offers free access to a wide range of academic materials.
An open-source digital library allows universities to create, manage, and share resources without the burden of expensive proprietary systems. This study aims to implement an open-source digital library system in universities in Sokoto North Local Government Area, enabling students to access academic materials anytime and anywhere, enhancing their academic experience.
