Background of the Study

In recent years, mobile technology has revolutionized various sectors, including education, by improving communication and engagement between students, parents, and teachers. However, one aspect of education that has not fully embraced this digital transition is homework management, particularly in secondary schools. In Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State, students often forget to complete or submit their homework assignments, leading to poor academic performance and frustration for both students and teachers.

The lack of effective systems for reminding students of their homework assignments is a common problem in secondary schools, where the reliance on paper-based communication often fails to provide timely reminders. A Mobile-Based Homework Reminder Application will provide an efficient and convenient solution, reminding students of their upcoming assignments and deadlines through notifications on their smartphones. The system will allow teachers to assign homework, set deadlines, and monitor completion, while students will receive timely reminders on their mobile devices.

This mobile application will utilize Android programming language for development, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users. The app will be integrated with features such as push notifications, homework tracking, and a reminder system, helping students stay on top of their assignments. It will also provide a platform for communication between teachers and students, promoting better organization and academic performance.

Statement of the Problem

In Ilorin South Local Government Area, secondary school students often fail to complete homework assignments due to the absence of effective reminder systems. This lack of a structured system for tracking and reminding students of their homework deadlines results in missed assignments, decreased academic performance, and reduced teacher-student engagement. There is a need for a mobile-based solution to improve homework management and ensure that students are consistently reminded of their academic tasks.
