Background of the Study
Course registration is a fundamental process in university academic operations, where students select courses for each semester or academic year. However, at Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto, the existing manual or semi-automated course registration system presents several challenges, including long queues, human errors, and delayed registration processes. These challenges have led to student dissatisfaction, administrative inefficiencies, and missed opportunities for students to enroll in desired courses.
The manual registration system at UDUS requires students to physically visit the registration office, fill out forms, and wait for approvals, resulting in a significant waste of time and effort for both students and staff. Additionally, issues such as over-registration, unbalanced course enrollment, and difficulty in tracking student course load arise from the lack of an integrated system. The implementation of an online course registration portal would solve these issues by automating the registration process, allowing students to register for courses, view available classes, and track their academic progress in real-time.
The development of a Course Registration Portal for UDUS would involve designing a user-friendly platform that supports online course selection, payment processing, and timely updates to students' academic records. It would also enable faculty and administrative staff to monitor registration trends, manage course capacity, and address course scheduling conflicts. Statement of the Problem
