Background of the study
Cloud-based collaboration tools have revolutionized the way students and teachers interact and collaborate in the digital age. Tools like Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, and Slack enable users to work together on documents, projects, and assignments in real time, irrespective of geographical location (Gumuye & Abdul, 2023). In secondary schools, these tools provide opportunities for students to collaborate effectively, share resources, and communicate with teachers outside of regular classroom hours. In Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, secondary schools are beginning to recognize the benefits of cloud-based collaboration tools in enhancing both student learning and teacher-student engagement.
While the advantages of these tools are evident in improving collaboration, communication, and resource sharing, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, resistance to technological change, and insufficient teacher training may affect their adoption and usage. This study will explore the role of cloud-based collaboration tools in secondary schools in Birnin Kebbi, focusing on how these tools facilitate collaboration and enhance the learning experience.
Statement of the problem
Although cloud-based collaboration tools have the potential to improve teaching and learning in secondary schools, their adoption in Birnin Kebbi is impeded by challenges such as limited internet access, lack of digital literacy among teachers and students, and inadequate technological infrastructure. These barriers hinder the widespread use and effectiveness of these tools in fostering collaboration. This study will analyze how cloud-based collaboration tools are being used in secondary schools in Birnin Kebbi and the factors that influence their successful implementation.
Objectives of the study
To evaluate the role of cloud-based collaboration tools in enhancing collaboration and learning in secondary schools in Birnin Kebbi.
To identify the challenges faced by students and teachers in using cloud-based collaboration tools in Birnin Kebbi.
To assess the impact of cloud-based collaboration tools on student engagement and academic performance in Birnin Kebbi.
