Background of the Study
Mentorship programs have been recognized as pivotal in enhancing the academic performance and professional development of nursing students. In Bauchi State, Nigeria, the integration of mentorship within nursing education aims to support students' academic success and clinical competence. Statement of the Problem
Despite the implementation of mentorship initiatives, there is limited empirical evidence assessing their effectiveness on the academic performance of nursing students in Bauchi State. Understanding this impact is crucial for optimizing educational strategies and improving student outcomes.
Objectives of the Study
1. To evaluate the current mentorship programs available to nursing students in Bauchi State.
2. To assess the academic performance of nursing students participating in mentorship programs compared to those who are not.
3. To identify challenges and benefits associated with mentorship from the perspectives of both mentors and mentees.

Research Hypotheses

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on nursing students enrolled in accredited nursing institutions in Bauchi State. Data will be collected through academic records, surveys, and interviews with students and faculty involved in mentorship programs. Limitations may include self-reported data biases and the variability of mentorship program structures across institutions.
