Background of the Study
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a leading cause of mortality and morbidity globally, and postmenopausal women are particularly vulnerable to these conditions due to hormonal changes that affect the cardiovascular system. After menopause, women experience a decline in estrogen levels, which increases their risk of developing hypertension, dyslipidemia, and other cardiovascular risk factors (Mohan et al., 2023). In Niger State, as in many other parts of Nigeria, the burden of cardiovascular diseases is rising among postmenopausal women, with limited research on the effectiveness of nursing interventions tailored to this demographic.
Cardiac nursing interventions, including patient education, lifestyle modification, medication adherence support, and management of comorbid conditions, play a crucial role in improving outcomes for women with cardiovascular diseases. These interventions aim to address the unique risk factors that postmenopausal women face and provide the necessary care to reduce the incidence of complications such as heart failure, stroke, and coronary artery disease (Adebayo et al., 2024).
In Niger State, where healthcare infrastructure may be challenged by limited access to specialized care, cardiac nurses are essential in providing the needed interventions for postmenopausal women. However, the effectiveness of these nursing interventions in managing cardiovascular diseases among postmenopausal women in the state has not been adequately explored. This study, therefore, seeks to assess the impact of cardiac nursing interventions on improving the health outcomes of postmenopausal women with cardiovascular diseases in Niger State.
Statement of the Problem
Cardiovascular diseases are a growing concern in Niger State, and postmenopausal women are particularly at risk due to the hormonal changes associated with menopause. Despite the availability of cardiac nursing interventions, there is limited research on their impact in the context of postmenopausal women in the state. Poor adherence to medication, unhealthy lifestyle choices, and inadequate access to specialized care contribute to the high burden of CVDs in this population. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cardiac nursing interventions in improving the cardiovascular health of postmenopausal women and identify the factors that contribute to successful outcomes.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on the impact of cardiac nursing interventions on postmenopausal women with cardiovascular diseases in Niger State. Limitations include potential differences in the availability and quality of nursing interventions across healthcare settings, and the difficulty in measuring long-term outcomes of these interventions.
