Background of the Study
Child labor and exploitation remain pervasive issues in many parts of Nigeria, including Mubi Local Government Area in Adamawa State. Children in rural areas are often subjected to hazardous labor, such as working in agriculture, mining, and domestic work, depriving them of education and exposing them to physical and emotional harm. Despite national and international frameworks aimed at eradicating child labor, local governments play a pivotal role in implementing policies and programs to protect children from exploitation.
Mubi has witnessed some local government efforts aimed at combating child labor through awareness campaigns, education programs, and partnerships with civil society organizations. However, the effectiveness of these efforts in reducing child labor and ensuring the protection of children remains a topic of concern.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of local government efforts in combating child labor and exploitation in Mubi LGA.
Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to combat child labor in Mubi, the practice remains widespread, and many children continue to suffer exploitation. This study seeks to examine the effectiveness of local government interventions in curbing child labor and exploitation, as well as to identify barriers to success and propose strategies for improvement.

The increase in access to education and child protection programs has contributed to the improvement of children's welfare.
Cultural beliefs, inadequate enforcement of laws, and lack of awareness are significant barriers to the effectiveness of anti-child labor initiatives.
