Background of the Study
Equitable distribution of public resources is a fundamental principle of good governance and ensures that all members of society, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to public goods and services. In Nigeria, one of the challenges faced by local governments is ensuring that public resources, including government funding, infrastructure, and social services, are distributed equitably across different communities. Biu Local Government Area in Borno State, like many other areas in the country, has faced challenges related to inequality in the distribution of public resources, particularly following the impacts of insurgency and displacement.
Local governments are expected to develop policies and mechanisms that ensure fair and equal access to public resources. However, concerns about corruption, political favoritism, and unequal resource allocation have persisted. This study aims to investigate the role of Biu LGA in ensuring the equitable distribution of public resources.
