Background of the Study
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration launched several social investment programs aimed at alleviating poverty and improving the living standards of vulnerable populations in Nigeria. The programs, such as the National Social Investment Program (NSIP), included initiatives like the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), Home-Grown School Feeding Program (HGSFP), N-Power (youth employment program), and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP). These initiatives were designed to support low-income households, create employment, and improve access to education and healthcare.
Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, has a large rural population with high levels of poverty, making it one of the key areas targeted by these programs.
