Background of the Study

The quality of education in secondary schools significantly depends on the relevance, adaptability, and effectiveness of the curriculum. Traditional curriculum development processes, often manual and time-intensive, may fail to address the dynamic needs of learners and the evolving demands of the job market. Secondary schools in Kebbi State face challenges such as outdated curricula, a lack of inclusivity, and limited alignment with global educational standards.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful tool for curriculum development, offering data-driven insights and automated processes to design, review, and update curricula. AI tools can analyze large datasets on student performance, industry trends, and pedagogical practices to create curricula that are both contextually relevant and globally competitive. For example, AI-powered platforms can identify gaps in learning materials, recommend personalized content, and optimize the sequence of topics for effective learning outcomes.

This study examines the role of AI in enhancing curriculum development processes in secondary schools in Kebbi State. It explores how AI can address existing challenges and improve the quality and relevance of educational content.
