Background of the Study
Local government autonomy in Nigeria is a critical issue, particularly in regions like Sabon Gari Local Government Area (LGA) in Kaduna State, where geopolitical factors such as ethnic diversity, political affiliations, and regional power dynamics play a significant role. Sabon Gari, known for its diverse population and strategic location, has faced ongoing challenges in securing full autonomy from state and federal authorities (Ahmed & Bello, 2023). Geopolitical influences often shape the allocation of powers and responsibilities between local governments and the central government. This study seeks to explore how these influences affect the autonomy of Sabon Gari LGA, focusing on political, ethnic, and regional power struggles.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
