Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political party competition plays a central role in shaping local governance by ensuring accountability, improving leadership, and promoting effective service delivery. In Jos North LGA, Plateau State, the intense competition between political parties has influenced the way local governments address the needs of their communities (Hassan & Zaki, 2023). Party competition in Jos North is often marked by ideological differences, policy debates, and attempts to outdo one another in terms of social development and infrastructural improvement.
