Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Gender inequality in political participation remains a major issue in many parts of the world, including Nigeria. Women, particularly in rural areas, are often underrepresented in political processes and decision-making bodies. In Pindiga LGA, Gombe State, women face significant barriers to political participation due to cultural, social, and economic factors. This study will explore the impact of gender inequality on political participation in Pindiga LGA, focusing on how gender-based discrimination and socio-cultural norms limit the involvement of women in the political process (Idris & Bello, 2024).
