Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Partisan politics plays a crucial role in shaping the development agenda in many countries, including Nigeria. Political parties often use community development projects as a tool to gain political leverage and fulfill their promises to voters. In Jos North LGA, Plateau State, the influence of partisan politics on community development is evident, with development projects sometimes being used as a means to gain political favor or support. These projects, which are meant to address local needs, can be heavily influenced by party politics, with some communities receiving benefits while others are neglected based on political affiliation.

It will not extend to other regions or broader political contexts. Limitations include challenges in obtaining data on the political decision-making processes behind development projects, as these may not always be transparent or accessible.

• Community Development Projects: Initiatives designed to improve the living conditions, infrastructure, and social welfare of a particular community or locality.
