Background of the Study
The National Social Investment Program (NSIP) is a key government initiative designed to address poverty and inequality in Nigeria. The program comprises several components, including cash transfers, school feeding, N-Power (a job creation scheme), and micro-credit loans. These interventions aim to provide financial assistance, create job opportunities, and support vulnerable groups in the country. Bida Local Government, located in Niger State, is one of the regions where the NSIP has been implemented. Poverty remains a pressing issue in the area, with many households dependent on subsistence farming and informal sector jobs for income. The NSIP, therefore, represents a critical tool for alleviating poverty and improving the living standards of the residents of Bida (Aliyu & Mohammed, 2023). This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the NSIP in reducing poverty and improving the socio-economic conditions of residents in Bida Local Government.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the extensive implementation of the National Social Investment Program across Nigeria, challenges such as inadequate targeting, corruption, and ineffective monitoring and evaluation have hindered its potential impact on poverty reduction (Aminu & Usman, 2024). In Bida, while some beneficiaries have reported positive changes in their lives, a large portion of the population remains unaware of or excluded from the program. This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of the NSIP in reducing poverty in Bida, and identify the challenges impeding its full impact.

To assess the socio-economic impact of the NSIP on vulnerable groups in Bida.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will provide a detailed evaluation of the National Social Investment Program’s impact in Bida Local Government. The findings will contribute to improving the design and implementation of the program, ensuring that it reaches its full potential in poverty reduction, and offering insights for similar programs in other parts of Nigeria.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
