Background of the Study
Alternative medicine, encompassing traditional healing practices, herbal treatments, and holistic therapies, has become an integral part of wellness tourism. Bauchi State, renowned for its rich cultural traditions and biodiversity, offers unique opportunities for the promotion of alternative medicine tourism. Healing centers that integrate indigenous practices with alternative therapies attract tourists seeking natural and culturally enriched remedies for their health concerns.
Globally, there is increasing interest in alternative medicine due to its perceived efficacy, affordability, and alignment with sustainable living. Bauchi State can capitalize on this trend by promoting its healing centers as tourist attractions. However, the potential of alternative medicine in attracting tourists to Bauchi State has not been fully explored or documented.
