Background of the Study
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the global hospitality sector, disrupting operations, reducing revenues, and forcing many businesses to close temporarily or permanently. In Sokoto, a state known for its cultural tourism and hospitality services, the pandemic exposed the vulnerabilities of the sector to external shocks. Hotels, restaurants, and event venues experienced significant declines in patronage due to lockdowns, travel restrictions, and changes in consumer behavior.
Post-pandemic recovery in the hospitality sector requires innovative strategies to rebuild consumer confidence, adapt to new safety protocols, and diversify revenue streams. Sokoto’s hospitality stakeholders must implement effective measures to ensure long-term sustainability and competitiveness. This study investigates the recovery strategies adopted by Sokoto’s hospitality sector following the pandemic, focusing on their effectiveness and areas for improvement.

This study aims to bridge this gap by examining pandemic recovery strategies in Sokoto’s hospitality sector and identifying best practices for sustainable recovery.
