Background of the Study

Grievance handling procedures are vital for maintaining a harmonious workplace by addressing employee concerns effectively. A robust grievance handling system ensures fairness, improves employee morale, and enhances organizational commitment (Okoro & Adamu, 2024). In the industrial sector, companies like BUA Group operate in environments with diverse workforces, making grievance management an essential function.

In Niger State, the industrial workforce is subject to various challenges, including workplace conflicts, safety concerns, and communication breakdowns. These issues underscore the importance of effective grievance handling procedures in mitigating disputes and fostering employee satisfaction (Ahmed & Bello, 2023). This study critically evaluates the grievance handling mechanisms employed by BUA Group, assessing their effectiveness in promoting a positive work environment.

Despite the critical role of grievance handling procedures, BUA Group in Niger State faces challenges such as delayed resolution of disputes, inadequate communication channels, and lack of employee trust in the system. These issues lead to increased employee dissatisfaction, reduced productivity, and a hostile work environment (Ibrahim et al., 2024).

This study investigates these challenges, focusing on the effectiveness of grievance handling procedures and proposing strategies for improvement.

  2. Employee engagement is not significantly influenced by grievance resolution effectiveness.
  3. Proposed strategies do not significantly improve grievance handling mechanisms.
