Background of the Study

Remote work has gained global traction, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic underscored its importance for business continuity. For multinational companies like Nestlé Nigeria, remote work offers flexibility and cost savings while addressing work-life balance challenges (Gajendran & Harrison, 2023). However, in regions like Kebbi State, the adoption of remote work is met with infrastructural, cultural, and organizational challenges.

Kebbi State is characterized by limited internet connectivity and inadequate power supply, making remote work challenging (Abubakar et al., 2024). Moreover, the cultural inclination toward traditional office settings and skepticism about productivity outside the workplace further complicates adoption (Johnson, 2023). As Nestlé Nigeria seeks to integrate remote work into its operations, understanding employee satisfaction and addressing associated challenges are critical for successful implementation.

This study explores these challenges within the context of Nestlé Nigeria in Kebbi State, examining the interplay between remote work adoption and employee satisfaction. By identifying barriers and opportunities, the study aims to contribute to the growing discourse on workplace flexibility in developing economies.

Statement of the Problem

Remote work adoption in Nigeria remains a significant challenge due to infrastructural and cultural barriers. Nestlé Nigeria, despite its global presence, faces unique challenges in Kebbi State, where technological constraints and resistance to change hinder remote work adoption. These challenges impact employee satisfaction, as workers struggle to balance organizational expectations with personal productivity (Akinwale & Omotayo, 2023).

Employee dissatisfaction with remote work arrangements can lead to reduced productivity, lower engagement, and higher turnover rates. Addressing these issues is essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability of remote work practices in Nestlé Nigeria.

  1. To identify the challenges of remote work adoption in Nestlé Nigeria, Kebbi State.
  2. To assess the impact of remote work adoption on employee satisfaction.
  3. To propose strategies for improving remote work practices in Nestlé Nigeria.

Research Questions

  1. What are the challenges of remote work adoption in Nestlé Nigeria, Kebbi State?
  2. How does remote work adoption affect employee satisfaction in Nestlé Nigeria?
  3. What strategies can enhance remote work practices in Nestlé Nigeria?

  2. Remote work adoption significantly influences employee satisfaction in Nestlé Nigeria.
  3. Organizational culture does not significantly affect the implementation of remote work in Nestlé Nigeria.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
