Background of the Study
Islamic banking operates under principles derived from Sharia law, emphasizing ethical practices such as profit-sharing, interest-free transactions, and fairness. Ethical banking practices are integral to the success of Islamic banks, as they align with customer expectations of integrity and transparency.
Jaiz Bank, a pioneer in Islamic banking in Nigeria, plays a significant role in promoting ethical financial services. Operating in Kano State, the bank serves a diverse customer base with unique financial needs and preferences. This study investigates the relationship between ethical banking practices and customer satisfaction in Jaiz Bank, highlighting how adherence to ethical principles impacts customer perceptions and loyalty.
Statement of the Problem
Customer satisfaction is critical for the success of any banking institution, including Islamic banks. However, the extent to which ethical banking practices influence customer satisfaction in Islamic banks remains underexplored in Nigeria. Jaiz Bank, despite its efforts to adhere to Islamic banking principles, faces challenges such as competition, regulatory pressures, and changing customer expectations.
Although ethical banking is a cornerstone of Islamic finance, limited empirical evidence exists on its impact on customer satisfaction in Nigerian Islamic banks. This study seeks to fill this gap by analyzing the relationship between ethical practices and customer satisfaction in Jaiz Bank, Kano State.
