Background of the Study
Public relations (PR) plays a significant role in shaping political candidates' public images and influencing voters' perceptions. In Gombe LGA, Gombe State, PR strategies have been increasingly utilized by gubernatorial candidates to enhance their visibility and connect with voters (Aminu & Usman, 2023). This study examines the role of public relations in political image building, focusing on the gubernatorial candidates in the most recent elections in Gombe LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While the role of public relations in political campaigns is widely acknowledged, there is limited research on its specific impact in Gombe LGA, especially in the context of gubernatorial candidates. Public relations strategies, including media campaigns, public appearances, and messaging, are critical in determining the success of candidates in an election (Ali & Haruna, 2023). This study seeks to evaluate how effectively public relations strategies were employed to build the political image of gubernatorial candidates in Gombe LGA.
