Background of the Study
Political jingles have become a key tool in political communication, especially in educating voters about electoral processes and encouraging informed participation. In Sokoto South LGA, Sokoto State, local radio programs have been a significant medium through which political jingles are disseminated, aiming to educate voters on key electoral issues, candidates, and the voting process (Abubakar & Musa, 2023). These jingles, often aired during election periods, can influence voter perceptions and improve electoral participation. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of political jingles in voter education within Sokoto South LGA, focusing on the role of local radio programs.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the widespread use of political jingles on radio in Sokoto South LGA, there is limited research on their effectiveness in educating voters, particularly in rural areas where radio is a primary source of information (Yusuf & Ahmed, 2023). This study seeks to fill this gap by examining the impact of political jingles on voter education, with an emphasis on the accessibility and comprehensibility of these messages in reaching the target audience.
