Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Entrepreneurship is a critical driver of economic development, particularly in emerging economies like Nigeria. In Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, there has been a growing interest in entrepreneurship, with young people increasingly exploring business opportunities to improve their livelihoods (Sulaimon & Bello, 2023). However, despite this interest, many young entrepreneurs struggle with the complexities of starting and running successful businesses due to a lack of access to information, mentorship, and resources. In recent years, short films have emerged as an innovative tool to promote entrepreneurship awareness, providing an engaging and accessible platform for disseminating information about entrepreneurship, business strategies, and success stories (Akinwande et al., 2024). Short films, with their concise and impactful narratives, can effectively convey entrepreneurial messages, inspire young entrepreneurs, and provide practical knowledge in an engaging format. This study seeks to examine the role of short films in promoting entrepreneurship awareness among young entrepreneurs in Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, and to assess how these films influence their attitudes toward entrepreneurship, business practices, and problem-solving.
