Background of the Study

Warehouse management is a critical function within the supply chain, influencing the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall customer satisfaction of a business. Proper warehouse management practices involve the systematic organization of goods, inventory control, order fulfillment, and the timely delivery of products to customers. As businesses strive to enhance their service quality, the role of warehouse management in ensuring efficient operations has become increasingly important, especially in sectors dealing with bulk products like BUA Group.

BUA Group is a leading conglomerate in Nigeria with diverse interests in cement production, sugar refining, and other industrial activities. The company operates large warehouses for storing raw materials and finished goods, essential for its manufacturing and distribution processes. In Niger State, BUA Group faces significant logistics challenges, particularly with warehouse management, due to infrastructure limitations and fluctuating demand. Efficient warehouse practices are pivotal for BUA Group to meet customer expectations regarding order accuracy, product availability, and delivery speed.

This study investigates the warehouse management practices at BUA Group and evaluates their effect on customer satisfaction, aiming to provide insights into how effective warehouse practices can improve service delivery in the Nigerian manufacturing sector.

Statement of the Problem

Effective warehouse management is crucial for timely delivery, accurate inventory control, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Despite the importance of warehouse practices, there is limited research on the specific relationship between warehouse management and customer satisfaction in the Nigerian context. BUA Group, with its extensive warehouse operations in Niger State, has faced challenges in ensuring the efficiency of its warehouse systems, potentially impacting customer satisfaction. This study seeks to examine the impact of warehouse management practices on customer satisfaction at BUA Group.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the warehouse management practices implemented at BUA Group in Niger State.

  3. To identify challenges in warehouse management and their effects on customer service delivery.

Research Questions

  1. What warehouse management practices are implemented at BUA Group in Niger State?

Research Hypotheses

  1. There is a significant relationship between warehouse management practices and customer satisfaction at BUA Group in Niger State.

  3. Challenges in warehouse management negatively impact customer satisfaction at BUA Group.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study focuses on investigating warehouse management practices at BUA Group in Niger State and their effect on customer satisfaction. Data will be collected through interviews with warehouse managers, employees, and customers, as well as an analysis of company performance metrics. Limitations include the availability of data on internal warehouse processes and the subjective nature of customer satisfaction.
